Petitgrain Oil, CAS#8014-17-3, is a natural essential oil extracted from bitter orange trees.

Petitgrain bigarade oil is produced via steam distillation from the leaves and twigs of the bitter orange tree, with leaves serving as the primary raw material. The typical yield of this oil is around 0.2%. Paraguay petitgrain oil, also referred to as South American petitgrain oil, is obtained by steam distilling leaves and twigs of a Citrus aurantium L. variant, which grows as semi-wild or cultivated plantations across Paraguay.

To protect the ester compounds that largely determine the characteristic aroma profile of petitgrain oil, producers often adopt superheated steam distillation technology. This method effectively lowers the hydrolysis rate of these key aroma esters during extraction, preserving the natural fragrance quality and avoiding deterioration of scent.

Furthermore, terpeneless petitgrain oil can be further processed from both petitgrain bigarade oil and Paraguay petitgrain oil through vacuum distillation. After removing terpene fractions, terpeneless petitgrain oil features better solubility in alcohol, stronger aroma intensity and improved stability, which is highly favored in fine fragrance, cosmetic and flavor formulation.

Widely used in perfume compounding, aromatherapy, skincare products and daily fragrance industry, petitgrain oil carries fresh, green, citrusy floral notes. We can supply bulk shipments with stable batch quality to meet your large-volume purchasing requirements.

Petitgrain Oil is a versatile natural essential oil highly valued within fragrance manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors, owing to its revitalizing, restorative tonic properties. It delivers a fresh, uplifting aroma profile with subtle floral undertones and a characteristic bitter citrus nuance.

Similar to neroli oil, authentic Petitgrain Bigarade oil is steam-distilled from the foliage of bitter orange trees. Apart from the classic bitter-orange petitgrain, derivative variants including petitgrain bergamot, petitgrain lemon and petitgrain mandarin essential oils are also commercially available for different formulation needs.

Important safety reminder: This essential oil carries potential skin irritation risk, so proper dilution is mandatory before topical use in cosmetic formulations.
