2. Product Description
n-Hexane is a linear saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon with a molecular weight of 86.2. It appears as a colorless, volatile liquid with a faint gasoline-like odor, and is produced from crude oil via cracking and fractional distillation. It is almost insoluble in water but freely soluble in organic solvents including ethanol, diethyl ether and chloroform. As a widely applied industrial solvent, it serves as a core material in rubber, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, leather, textiles, coatings, adhesives and industrial cleaning agents.
