Product Application of Octanoic Acid (CAS No.: 124-07-2)
Octanoic acid can be incorporated into specialized industrial and agricultural formulations, serving multiple practical purposes.
In formulations for preventing and controlling wheat spiders, n-octanoic acid is used as a synergistic component alongside trimethylolpropane ester, with a total addition amount of 7–9 parts. The optimal weight ratio of trimethylolpropane ester to n-octanoic acid is 6–8:1, which ensures the best performance in preventing and controlling wheat spiders. This composite formula can be further developed into pesticide products specifically for wheat spider control.
In anti-corrosion and rust-preventive liquids, n-octanoic acid is combined with boric acid as a synergistic ingredient, with a total dosage ranging from 7 to 9 parts. The recommended weight ratio of boric acid to n-octanoic acid is 6–8:1; under this ratio, the formulation exhibits excellent rust-preventive and anti-corrosion properties. Maintaining the ratio within the specified range ensures the optimal performance of the formulation.
