Titanium dioxide (\(TiO_2\)) is an inert white inorganic powder, well‑known for delivering the highest hiding power among all commercially available white pigments. Thanks to its exceptional opacity, bright whiteness and excellent light‑scattering property, it can efficiently cover underlying substrate colors, making it an indispensable functional pigment across multiple industrial sectors.
This material itself is non‑combustible. Nevertheless, as a fine powdery substance, when fine particles disperse and suspend in the air at certain concentration levels, a dust‑air explosive mixture may form. Under such conditions, an external ignition source such as open flame, static electricity or spark could potentially trigger a dust explosion. Appropriate dust‑control ventilation measures should therefore be adopted during production, handling and processing operations.
For transportation classification, titanium dioxide is not included in the DOT Hazardous Materials Table. The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) does not classify this substance as hazardous goods for shipping purposes under normal transport scenarios.
It covers a broad spectrum of end‑use applications. It is widely applied as premium white pigment for paints & coatings, paper, rubber and plastic products to enhance whiteness and covering performance. Besides industrial usage, it is a common ingredient within cosmetic formulations. It is also utilized for manufacturing welding rods. Additionally, it can be used for radioactive skin decontamination in specialized scenarios.
