DL-Limonene
CAS No.: 138-86-3
DL-Limonene, also widely called Dipentene, is a colorless, flammable liquid at ambient temperature, featuring a fresh and natural lemon citrus aroma. It is insoluble in water, yet fully miscible with ethanol and many organic solvents.
Boasting excellent solvency and unique aromatic characteristics, it serves as a multifunctional raw material. It is extensively applied in daily fragrances, food flavoring, industrial cleaning solvents, resin synthesis and other fields.
With reliable compatibility and stable performance, it is a popular green bio-based solvent and fragrance ingredient for diverse formulation development.

Product Application of DL-Limonene CAS#138-86-3
Also known as Dipentene, DL-Limonene covers a broad spectrum of industrial uses. It works as a key material for enamels, coatings, oil-based resins, resin waxes and metal driers, and acts as an efficient solvent in relevant systems. Moreover, it serves as an important raw material for synthesizing synthetic resins and synthetic rubber.
Within the flavour and fragrance sector, it is widely formulated into orange blossom essences, citrus aroma blends and other compound fragrances. It can be adopted as an alternative to lemon essential oil. From a chemical processing perspective, DL-Limonene enables diversified derivative synthesis: directional oxidation yields carvone; hydration reaction with water under inorganic acid generates α-terpineol and terpene hydrate diol. With platinum or colourless catalysts, hydrogenation produces para-menthane, while dehydrogenation reaction delivers p-cymene.
Beyond the above fields, it can also function as oil dispersants, rubber additives, wetting agents and other functional auxiliaries for multiple industrial formulations.
