The compound dissolves in hydrochloric acid, hydrobromic acid, and aqueous ammonia, forming complex compounds. It is only slightly soluble in cold water, decomposes when exposed to hot water or nitric acid, and is insoluble in propyl acetate and concentrated sulfuric acid.
