N-Ethyl-2-pyrrolidone (NEP) is a transparent, colorless low-volatility aprotic solvent with powerful dissolving capacity, low vapor pressure and low dielectric constant.
It delivers notable transdermal penetration promotion performance. It can interact with the layered lipid structure of skin stratum corneum liposomes to facilitate transdermal absorption of active substances.
In industrial production, NEP acts as an excellent general solvent and synthetic intermediate for polycarboxylic acid preparation. It maintains stable performance under low-light and constant-pressure working environments, and participates in formulation systems regulating viscosity and hydrogen bonding.
Safety Reminders
This chemical carries certain toxic risks requiring strict operation management:
Neurotoxicity: May trigger acute solvent poisoning syndrome upon improper exposure.
Hepatotoxicity: Secondary liver toxicant; occupational inhalation or ingestion exposure may induce liver damage, verified by animal toxicology tests.
Reproductive toxicity: Hazardous to reproductive health, likely to hinder reproductive capacity and cause fetal developmental abnormalities in both males and females.
