Triclosan Physicochemical Properties
Appearance:White crystalline powder with a subtle floral and phenolic aroma.
Solubility: Slightly soluble in water, moderately soluble in dilute alkalis, and freely soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. It can dissolve in surfactants to form clear concentrated solutions.
Stability: Delivers excellent storage stability. No rapid decomposition occurs below 280–290°C. Only 2% of the active ingredient degrades after 14 hours of heating at 200°C. It suffers negligible degradation under prolonged UV irradiation, and its solutions maintain stability in both acidic and alkaline environments.
Volatility: Extremely low volatility accompanied by a light floral odor.
