CAS Registry Number: 95-31-8

Chemical Molecular Formula: C₁₁H₁₄N₂S₂

Common Trade & Chemical Names:

N-tert-Butyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide, commercially known as Accelerator NS or Accel BNS

Physical Characteristic: The product exists as fine white powdery solid under normal temperature.

Order Specification: The minimum order quantity is one full container load (1 FCL).

N-tert-Butyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide, CAS No. 95-31-8, commonly abbreviated as TBBS.

TBBS is a vital sulfenamide-type vulcanization accelerator. It features excellent resistance to premature scorch while delivering a rapid vulcanization speed. It applies to natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), polybutadiene rubber and polyisoprene rubber. This product performs exceptionally well in rubber compounds filled with furnace black and featuring relatively high alkalinity. It causes minimal discoloration and staining.

TBBS can substitute NOBS (N-morpholinobenzothiazole sulfenamide), a secondary amine-containing accelerator with potential carcinogenic risks. Back in 1994, Germany issued relevant regulations requiring the tire industry to replace NOBS with CBS (CZ) or TBBS.

N-tert-Butyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide, CAS No. 95-31-8, commonly abbreviated as TBBS.

TBBS is an important sulfenamide vulcanization accelerator. It achieves an optimal balance of excellent scorch safety and fast vulcanization speed. It is suitable for natural rubber (NR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), cis-polybutadiene rubber (BR) and polyisoprene rubber (IR). It performs outstandingly in high-alkaline rubber formulations filled with furnace black, and brings slight discoloration and pollution to finished rubber products.

The product is white fine powder with good free-flow property and superior dispersion performance in rubber systems. It can be evenly blended with raw rubber, carbon black and other compounding agents during mixing. Stable processing characteristics can be maintained in extrusion, calendering and moulding procedures, effectively avoiding early vulcanization during processing. The vulcanized rubber made with TBBS possesses stable tensile strength, elasticity and ageing resistance.

More importantly, TBBS hardly generates nitrosamines in the vulcanization process, meeting stringent international environmental protection and occupational health standards. It serves as an ideal substitute for NOBS (N-morpholinobenzothiazole sulfenamide). NOBS contains secondary amine and has potential carcinogenic risks. As early as 1994, Germany introduced relevant regulations to require the tire industry to replace NOBS with CBS (CZ) or TBBS.

It is widely adopted in the production of automobile tires, engineering rubber parts, rubber hoses, conveyor belts, shock-absorbing components and other industrial rubber products. It can be used alone or combined with thiazole, thiuram accelerators to adjust curing characteristics according to different production requirements.
